Obituary for Leonore Santucci
Leonore Santucci, age 93, of Stratford, CT passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday July 24, 2016. She was born January 8, 1923, daughter of the late Pasquale and Julia Castellanete in East Harlem, New York and raised in the Bronx.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Albert Santucci, her brothers, John, Gabriel and Eugene Castellanete, and her sisters Madeline Castellanete, Adeline Eide and Juliet Terone.
She is survived by her brother, Robert Castellanete, her son, Richard Santucci, and his wife, Julie, her daughter, Dore Rogers, and her husband, James, her three grandchildren James Rogers and his wife Caitlin, Deanna Fonda and her husband Steven, and Lindsay Rogers, and her great-grandchildren James Rogers and Grace Fonda, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins and her longtime aide and dear friend, Sonia Dwyer.
Lee was the stronghold of her family and she dedicated her life to her loved ones. She was happiest when everyone was gathered together. She took great pride in her Italian-American heritage and loved great food. She was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith and was a member of the Bible study class at Our Lady of Grace Church. She had an immense love of learning, reading, music, (in particular Frank Sinatra) and classic movies. She was retired from the Stratford Public Library where she worked for many years. She also worked at the Manufacturer Trust in New York, as well as the Connecticut National Bank of Bridgeport.
To everyone she met, she was an inspiration and she left her mark on every heart she touched. She will be greatly missed by all.
Friends are invited to attend her funeral on Thursday July28, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. from the William R McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford and at 10:00 am in St. Mark Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Stratford. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
