Obituary for Luz Rivera
Luz Rivera, age 93, of Orange, beloved wife of Ismael Rivera, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 6, 2022 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Rivera was born April 1, 1928 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Daniel and Juana (Hilerio) Rivera.
Luz was a retired Technician at Park City Hospital.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her daughter Yolanda Cotela and her husband Michael Cotela Sr. of Orange; grandson Michael Cotela Jr. of Orange and his partner Crystal Daum; granddaughter Amanda Luz Ferrara and her husband Camryn Ferrara of Orange; great grandchildren Joseph Charles Cotela and close to her heart Dain Padilla and Nevaeh Colon; sister Juana Rivera; and nieces and nephews Carlos and Norma Perez, Edwin Perez, Julie and Marray Musselman, Gloria Perez, Elsa Garcia, Gregory Rivera, Carmen Rivera, Ada Rodriguez, Debra Diaz, Rosalie Rivera, Michael Rivera Jr., Carmen Aponte, Dolores Bambas, Marzion Raven, Nelson Rivera, and Thomas Villanueva. Luz was predeceased by her brothers and sisters Gregory Rivera Sr., Thomas Rivera, Agapito Rivera, Michael Rivera Sr., Eugenia Acevedo and Georgina Diaz.
Luz will be deeply missed by her family and loved ones who meant everything to her.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Peter Adamski on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church, 2070 Main St., Stratford, CT 06615. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
Friends may visit with her family before Mass from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford, CT 06615. Face masks will be required.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Masonicare, 22 Masonic Ave., Wallingford, CT 06492, www.masonicare.org.
