Obituary for Lydia Hoyt
HOYT - Lydia (Wilson) Hoyt, age 93, of Shelton beloved wife of the late Albert Hoyt passed away peacefully Monday July 23,2012 in Shelton . Lydia was born in Flushing, Ohio; April 1, 1919 daughter of the late Wilbur and Florence Evans Wilson, and was a life time area resident and worked with the Department of South American Affairs during World War II in Washington, DC where she met the love of her life Albert. She was a member of the Huntington Congregational Church and was active with the Woman’s Auxiliary and made crafts for the annual Christmas Fair. She was also an accomplished piano player and would play at church and nursing homes. When her daughter was young she was a Girl Scout Leader as well as a terrific 'MOM'. Survivors include her devoted children Dennis and Deloris Hoyt of East Haven, Gary and Karen Hoyt of North Haven, Thomas Hoyt, Marilyn and Michael Ragozzine all of Shelton, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend her funeral on Thursday July 26, 2012 at 10:30 am in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford. Interment will follow in St Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may visit Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu donations may be made in her memory to the: Make a Wish Foundation, 4742 N. 24th St. Suite 400, Phoenix, AZ 85016-4862.
