Obituary for Marcella Barr
BARR - Marcella (Stevens) Barr, age 98, of Wilton and previously of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Albert J. Barr who passed away in 1985, died Wednesday, January 14, 2015 in the Wilton Meadows Care Center, Wilton, CT. Mrs. Barr was born October 1, 1916 in Wheeling West Virginia, daughter of the late Michael and Mary (McGettigan) Stevens. She was a 34 year resident of Oronoque Village, Stratford, CT moving to the Greens Assisted Living in Wilton CT in 2011. She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Martha Dunn and her husband Robert of Granger, IN, Rosemary Barr and her husband Alan Hinkle of St. Inigoes, MD, James Barr and his wife Cindy of Gaithersburg, MD, Michael Barr and his wife Diana of Athens, OH and Albert J. Barr and his wife Mary Kay of Wilton, CT; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by the Reverend Reginald Norman on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. by meeting directly at the Our Lady of Fatima Church, 229 Danbury Rd, Wilton, CT. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Stamford. Friends may visit with the family Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St, Stratford, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marcella S. Barr may be made to either the American Arthritis Foundation, 1330 W. Peachtree St., Suite 100 Atlanta, GA 30309 or St. Marks Roman Catholic Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford, CT 06614.
