Obituary for Margaret (Lambie) Rafferty
Margaret Rafferty, age 99 of Stratford, beloved wife of the late James Rafferty entered into eternal rest Sunday, February 23, 2014 at the Gardner Heights Nursing Facility, Shelton surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Rafferty was born June 19, 1914 in Longriggend, Scotland, daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Purcell) Lambie. Margaret was an active member at St. Mark’s Church, St. Mark’s Travel Club, The Baldwin Center where she loved to dance, Member of the St. Margaret of Scotland Guild, the North Stratford Seniors and a volunteer and Eucharist Minister at the Bridgeport Health Care Center (Roncalli). Survivors include one son, James Rafferty (Doreen) of Bridgeport; two daughters, Mary Gorman (Thomas) of Stratford and Nan Gillespie (Ian) of Arizona; grandchildren Raymond Gillespie (Dale), Iain Gillespie (Shawna), Tom Gorman (Laura), Tricia Rafferty, James Rafferty (Suzanne), Bernadette Rafferty, Edward Rafferty, Bridget Dial (Michael) and Karin Rafferty Birch; sixteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons Robert and Henry Rafferty; a brother, John and four sisters, Nellie, Mary, Etta and Cathy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 12:00 noon by meeting directly at St. Mark’s Church. Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford, CT. A special thank you to the Staff at Gardner Heights for their compassionate care of Margaret, and most especially to Michelle and Desiree.
