Obituary for Margaret "Peggy" DeCapua
Margaret “Peggy” (Burbank) DeCapua, age 85, formerly of Shelton went home to be with the Lord on January 13, 2022, at St Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Hartford. Born in Bridgeport on July 29, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Arthur J. Burbank and Marguerite ‘Rita” (Haggerty) Burbank. She grew up in Stratford and was a resident of Shelton for 45 years before moving to Bristol, CT, in 2019. She was the wife of Richard A. DeCapua, to whom she was married for 60 years.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband and children, Margaret Ann “Meg” Povroznik (Stephen III) of Milford; Ellen Mary Kendall (Chris) of Social Circle, GA; and Dr. Sarah Elizabeth DeCapua of Bristol; three grandchildren, Stephen B. Povroznik IV, Rebecca R. Kendall and Christopher J. Kendall Jr.; a cousin who was more like a brother, Daniel L. Burbank (Joan who was her heart-sister), of Tolland, and the many heart-friends she made who became the siblings she never had. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Conner R. Kendall, and her sister-in-law, Adriana “Dee” Ranne.

She graduated from Stratford High School in 1954 and from the University of Bridgeport in 1958 with a B.S. in business administration. She had a successful career at CBS Radio in New York City and Stamford before her marriage to Richard in 1961. The couple settled in Milford, then moved to Shelton in 1974. She was a stay-at-home mom until 1980, when she reentered the workforce in retail. In 1990, she became the owner of Capricorn Uniform Shop in Milford, which she ran until her retirement in 2013.

She loved God, her family, friends and country; her interests included journaling, U.S. history and growing her faith in the Savior, Jesus Christ.
