Obituary for Marjorie Florence (McDonald) Gomperts
GOMPERTS– Marjorie Florence (McDonald) Gomperts, age 97, of Stratford passed away peacefully Sunday, May 3, 2015 in St. Joseph’s Manor, Trumbull surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Known to her friends and family as "Flo", she was born May 10, 1917 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late William H. and Blanche (Carlson) McDonald and had been a life time Bridgeport and Stratford area resident. She was retired from Sikorsky Aircraft after many years of employment. Flo was always full of energy. She enjoyed many arts and crafts, especially hook rugs and quilting. Her most cherished time was spent with her family and friends. She is survived by her two children, George Gomperts and his wife Barbara of Southport and Judith Reilly and her husband John of Stratford; five grandchildren, Lisa Gomperts of Atlanta, GA, Tracy Siciliano and her husband Joe of Decatur, GA, Eric Gomperts of Chiang Mai, Thailand, Christopher Reilly and his wife Sandy of Naugatuck and Patty Wallace and her husband Ron of Naugatuck; seven great-grandchildren, Samantha Daikus and her husband John, Danielle and Christopher Reilly, Ronnie, Lianne and Emily Wallace and Jackson Siciliano and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother and three sisters, William R. McDonald, Avis Scalzi, Mae Priestley and Ruby Barthmaier. Friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St. Stratford, CT followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Church, Stratford. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Flo's memory may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
