Obituary for Marjorie 'Peggy' Devitt
Marjorie “Peggy” Devitt, age 97, beloved wife of the late Vincent “Wee” Devitt of Lordship, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2013 in her home with her family at her bedside. Born in Bridgeport April 27, 1916, daughter of the late William and Catherine Sullivan, Peggy was a life long resident retiring from D.M. Reads. Peg was an avid Yankee fan and reader and would begin knitting sweaters and mittens at the last pitch of Baseball Season which she donated to St. James Church to be given to the children. Survivors include her nephew James Sullivan and her brother-in-law James Papp, both of Lordship; two great nieces Kate and Becky, a dear friend Carole Rogers and several cousins. She is predeceased by a nephew John Sullivan. Friends are invited to attend her funeral on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 10 am from the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford and at 10:30 am in St. James Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may visit the family Thursday morning from 9 to 10 am in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peg’s memory to the Vincent “Wee” Devitt Memorial Fund, One Victoria Soto Way, Stratford, CT 06615.
