Obituary for Martha (McNiff) Reynolds
Martha (McNiff) Reynolds, age 86, of Stratford, wife of the late Frank Reynolds, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the Carolton in Fairfield. Mrs. Reynolds was born July 14, 1928 in Providence, Rhode Island, and was the daughter of the late George T. and Anna (Sullivan) McNiff. She resided in Foster, Rhode Island until moving to Stratford, CT in 1965. Mrs. Reynolds retired as an underwriter for Prudential after working in the insurance field for many years in both RI and CT. A gracious and peaceful spirit, family was of paramount importance. She especially enjoyed being outdoors, music, family gatherings, and celebrating special occasions. Her integrity and courage in meeting the challenges life presented have been an inspiration to all she met. Mrs. Reynolds’ kind heart, generous spirit, and sense of adventure will be sorely missed. Commitment to her faith and strong character will continue to be a powerful example to everyone with whom she came in contact. She is survived by her children: Carol Reynolds and husband James Gutekunst of NYC and Highland Lake, NY, Joan Reynolds Yuan and husband Al Yuan of Glenside, PA, Frank Reynolds and wife Susan of Stratford, CT; her grandchildren: David Yuan and wife Rene Claxton of Pittsburgh, PA, Christina Yuan and husband Ali Ozturk of Wayne, PA, Stephen Yuan of Glenside, PA, Douglas Reynolds of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Ashley Reynolds of Stamford, CT; her great grandchildren: Cameron Ozturk and Grace Yuan, her brother George McNiff and wife Jeannine of Wallingford, CT and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sr. Mary Elizabeth McNiff RSM. The family wishes to extend special thanks to all the staff at the Carolton for their compassionate, loving and professional care. Friends are invited to visit with her family on Tuesday June 16, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford, CT. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford with interment in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. In lieu of flowers, donations in Martha's memory may be made to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 659 Tower Avenue, First Floor, Hartford, CT 06112 or www.nationalmssociety.org.
