Obituary for Martin A. Gillick Jr.
Martin A. Gillick, Jr., age 86, of Stratford, beloved husband of Janet Ann (Fedak) Gillick, passed away Monday, December 20, 2021 in Bridgeport Hospital. Mr. Gillick was born February 23, 1935 in Bridgeport, son of the late Martin and Helen (Bednar) Gillick Sr. and has been a life time area resident.
He was a graduate of Bullard Havens Tech and served as a supply Sgt in the Army Reserves. He worked as a master electrician for an electrical contactor and the state of Connecticut DOT where he retired as a crew leader in 1992. After retirement, he worked as an electrical inspector for a short time and a school bus driver. He also served as a EMT for the town of Stratford. He also was an avid NY Yankee and Pittsburg Steeler fan and loved spending time with grandchildren, especially for their family dinners.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Joe Gillick and his wife Ann Marie; two grandchildren, Katie and Danny; a sister-in-law Joyce Flynn; a niece Jo-Anne (Flynn) Jackson and her daughter Meganne.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Mary, sister Sue and a brother-in-law, Jack
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, December 27, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., in Our Lady of Peace Church, 651 Stratford Road, Stratford, CT.
Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford.
Friends may visit with the family before Mass from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford, CT 06615.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Our Lady of Peace Sanctuary Fund, 10 Ivy St, Stratford, CT 06615.
