Obituary for Mary Josephine McGurn
McGurn - Mary Josephine (Vassallo) McGurn, age 89, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late James J. McGurn, passed away Monday, November 14, 2016 in Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Mrs. McGurn was born May 12, 1927 in the Bronx, NY, daughter of the late Donato and Angelina Vassallo.
She was retired from Raybestos Manhattan and was a volunteer at the Dinan Center for many years.
Survivors include her two children, Catherine Butts of Stratford and Richard McGurn and his wife Anne of Schenectady, NY; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Caroline Butts.
Friends are invited to visit with her family on Saturday morning November 19, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St, Stratford. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
In lieu of Flowers, donations in her memory may be made to either, The St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Road, Wilton, Connecticut 06897.
