Obituary for Mary (Moura) Masse
Mary I. (Moura) Masse, age 91, of Shelton, previously of Stratford, beloved wife for 66 years of Roger Masse, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017 in Hartford Hospital. Mrs. Masse was born December 17, 1925 in Fall River, MA, daughter of the late Joseph and Irene (Soares) Moura and had been a long time area resident.
She was a retired nurse's aide and most recently worked for H&R Block. Along with her husband Roger, Mary was an avid bingo player and volunteer at Our Lady of Grace Church. She was a past President and Treasurer of the Our Lady of Grace Marion Guild, past President of the Church's Senior Travel Club, past President of their Bible Class, a member of the White Elephant Committee and was involved in the church's Cabaret. In 2008, they both received the Medal of Service from Bishop Lori for their service.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her three children, Elizabeth Liptak, Anita Desrosiers and Kenneth Masse; one brother, Everett Moura; five grandchildren, Kyle, Bryan and Marc Liptak and Stefanie Talpey and Melanie Salter; two great-grandchildren, Jack and George and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Thomas Moura.
The family would like to thank the staff of Avery Heights for their kind and considerate care given to their mother over the last few years.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. by meeting directly at Our Lady of Grace Church, 597 Second Hill Lane, Stratford. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may visit with her family Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford.
