Obituary for Mary (Santo) Lee
Mary Elizabeth (Santo) Lee, age 56, of Stratford, beloved wife of Gary Lee, passed away suddenly Saturday, January 23, 2016 in Stratford. Mary was born in Bridgeport, April 7, 1959, daughter of Marion Santo and the late Andrew Santo and had been a lifetime Stratford resident.
She and her best friend since childhood, Beth Dattilo were the co-owners and operators of the Metro Diner, in Stratford Center, previously known as Mary & Beth's. She always greeted everyone with a smile and made you feel like family. Her joys in life were spending time with her family and cheering on her Mets and Jets. Her greatest gift was her selflessness. She always considered friends and family before herself. A special thank you to her devoted customers for all their years of support and good company.
Survivors, in addition to her husband and mother, include her beloved son, Patsy Horan and his wife Rebecca of Trumbull; two brothers, James Santo and Andrew Santo; two Sisters, Joanne Santo and Anna Borisov; two cherished grandchildren, Abigail and Hadley; her best friend, Beth and her dearly loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends are invited to visit with her family on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St. Stratford. The funeral service and interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to either: The American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT., 06492 or Sterling House Community Center, 2283 Main St, Stratford, CT 06615.
