Obituary for Megan (Weldy) Anderson
Megan (Weldy) Anderson, age 54, of Stratford, beloved wife of Robby M. Anderson, passed away unexpectedly at Bridgeport Hospital on October 28, 2020. She was the daughter of Thomas P. Weldy of Monroe and the late Elizabeth Ciccoritti Weldy.
Megan was born February 5, 1966 in Washington, D.C. She grew up in Stratford and later Fairfield. She was a 1984 graduate of Notre Dame-Fairfield High School and received a degree from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford in 1987, where she was an outstanding student.
Megan worked for many years as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room at Bridgeport Hospital. She was universally respected by her colleagues for her highly competent and compassionate care of her patients. There she also met co-worker Robby M. Anderson. Megan and Robby were married December 11, 1992 in Bridgeport.
Megan was always involved in her children’s activities: Girl Scout leader, baseball Team Mother (travel coordinator and official scorer), Daisy Troop leader, soccer coach, school events and much more.
She loved cooking, holidays with family, playing with her granddaughters, spending time with friends—and the New York Yankees. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and was unbeatable at Jeopardy. She was an avid listener of WFAN radio and all genres of music.
We will all miss Megan’s wonderful sense of humor and her heart-warming smile.
Survivors in addition to her husband and father include her daughter Ashley Carrasquillo (Julio) of Bloomfield, her son Joseph Posa, Jr., of Stratford, her son Robert Anderson of New York City, her daughter Madeline Anderson of Stratford, her granddaughters Gianna, Olive and Emma, her sister Paige McCarthy of Fairfield, her brother Thomas J. Weldy (Katie) of Oxford, her brother Adam Weldy of Nantucket, Massachusetts and her many nephews and nieces.
There will be a private funeral service on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford.
Friends are invited to visit her family before the service from 2:00 to 4:00 in the Funeral Home.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the ASPCA, https://www.aspca.org/donate
