Obituary for Nicholas V. Soares, Jr.
Nicholas V. Soares, Jr. of Easton, beloved husband of Viola, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bridgeport to Nicholas and Theresa (Bilardo) Soares, Nick graduated from Harding High School (1951) where he met Viola, the girl who became his wife of 62 years.
A talented guitarist, singer and teacher, he opened “Soares Music City” upon his return from Austria where he was stationed during the Korean War.

Moving to Easton, he immersed himself in the community serving as 2nd Selectman, past President of The Exchange Club, co-Charmain of Easton Day, Board of Finance and Registrar of Voters.
Nick was a kind, gentle and honest soul who loved to travel, taking trips to Canada, Hawaii, Italy, Spain and Disney World. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a talented craftsman who could build or fix anything, large or small.
Survivors include his loving wife, Viola; his three devoted sons Nicholas and his wife Hollyann Corello, Guy and his wife Karen, and David; his grandchildren Justin, Cameron, Vienna and Noelle; brother Joseph and his wife Maureen and sister Genevieve Spata and her husband Victor, and many nieces and nephews, especially Vincent Cavaliere.
He was predeceased by his parents and sisters, Maria Pavone, Filomena DiCosmo, Margaret Minotti and Virginia Soares.
The family wishes to thank the 9th floor staff at Bridgeport Hospital, especially Omera, Carlene and Firdaus for the excellent care and compassion shown to Nicholas and his family, as well as the William R. McDonald Funeral Home in Stratford.
