Obituary for Patricia Ann (Reck) McGrath
Patricia Ann (Reck) McGrath, 79, of Stratford, beloved wife of John H. McGrath for 60 years, passed away on October 25, 2015 at West River Health Care Center. She was born October 11, 1936 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to the late Paul and Katherine Reck.
Pat grew up in Stratfield and met the love of her life, John. Married at a young age, they started a family and moved to New Hampshire and California, before returning to Connecticut to reside near the beach, in Lordship. Pat enjoyed raising her children and was involved as a PTO President. She supported her husband during his years as a councilman for the Town of Stratford. Pat was a gardener and loved spending time doing crafts and sewing. She also worked for many years as a seamstress at Jacopian Cleaners & Tailors.
Pat will be dearly missed by her husband John, and their three children: Jim McGrath, Susan Hovey and her husband Steve, and Ed McGrath and his wife Toby. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Paul and Ryan Hovey and Megan, Brian, and Liam McGrath. Pat enjoyed spending time with her sister-in-law Jackie Reck, her many nieces, nephews, and her dear friends. In addition her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Walter and her sisters Carol and Virginia. Pat was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She cared for everyone she met and truly enjoyed the time they spent together. Her positive outlook, advice and unconditional support will be sorely missed by those who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to meet for calling hours on Friday, October 30, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford, CT. Her funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home celebrated by Fr. Milan Dimic. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Stratford, CT.
