Obituary for Paul Jurawski

Paul Jurawski, age 88, of Danbury, beloved husband of sixty-five years to Patricia (Bowdy) Jurawski, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023, in Danbury Hospital. Paul was born in Bridgeport, CT on October 13, 1934, son of the late Dominic and Anna (Savitski) Jurowski. He was predeceased by his sister Lillian Kodz.

Paul, a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, was known as “Snake” to his military friends. To keep the group together along the rugged terrain, he would slither through the line of soldiers to assist those struggling. He would lift the weight off their shoulders, carrying their gear as well as his own. In 1961, Paul began weightlifting, and won the “Mr. Connecticut” physique contest. He had many hobbies over the years. He was an artist, a black belt in judo, a casino enthusiast and comedian. He had a joke for every occasion. He loved to make people laugh and still does with the wonderful memories we have of him. He was so charismatic.

Professionally, Paul was an entrepreneur. He was a salesman, a landscape designer, a hairdresser, a mason, and a home builder. He owned several businesses throughout his life, but his favorite was the Super Fried Chicken Concession trailer. Known as “The Chicken Man” he would charm his customers with a joke and say “take this with you and think of me when you get hungry”. The concession business allowed him to travel with his family to many New England fairs and visit many friends. His greatest pleasure was the ability to work close with his grandchildren; teaching them how to work hard and be successful.

Paul would always emphasize how proud he was of each and every one of them.

In addition to his wife, he leaves behind two daughters; Darlene (Robert) Froehlich-Koetsch and Deborah (Robert Sr.) Nakano; five grandchildren, Joseph Froehlich (Emily), James Froehlich (Brianne), Robert (Katelyn) Nakano Jr., Nicolette Nakano, Colton Nakano; five great-grandchildren, Lukas, Noel, Vera, Flynn and Joey; four nieces and nephews, Joseph (Joanne) Kodz, Daniel (Mindy) Kodz, Patricia (Michael) Sninsky and Lorraine (George) Urguhart; and his pets Ziva, Monkita and Zoie.

Paul Jurawski will always be remembered and forever in our hearts.

All services for Paul were private and with full Military Honors at the Lakeview Cemetery in Bridgeport Connecticut.
