Obituary for Richard Hess
Richard C. Hess, age 94, of Stratford, son of the late Lloyd and Bessie Hess of Nazareth, PA, passed away at his home on April 25, 2013. Born in Bethlehem, PA on September 1, 1918, he was a graduate of Bethlehem High School and Lehigh University, Class of 1940 with a BS Degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He resided in Bethlehem, PA for 40 years and was employed by the Bethlehem Steel Company. After the family moved to Connecticut in 1959, Richard was Manager of Metallury at the Schick Safety Razor Company in Milford where he specialized in quality control and research and development until his retirement at the age of 70. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Adele Hess and a sister Genevieve Hess. He is survived by a son Dr. Richard Hess, Jr. of Fairbanks, Alaska and his wife Marie and grandchildren Brian Hess and Carrie Hess, as well as a daughter Lynn Hess of Stratford. At the request of the family, there will be no visiting hours. Services and burial at Oaklawn Cemetery in Fairfield on Thursday, May 2, 2013 will be private.
