Obituary for Robert Cornish Jr.
Robert “Bobby” M. Cornish Jr., age 70, of Stratford, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, November 11, 2014. Robert was born in Bridgeport on June 3, 1944, son of the late Robert and Josephine (Marcel) Cornish Sr. He attended Stratford High School then entered the Navy and was honorably discharged. He then attended Norwalk Community College. He began his career as a Foreman at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, worked with is dad at Reid & Todd Jewelers in Bridgeport, CT and later became a Production Manager at Norden Systems in Norwalk, CT. He then relocated to Colorado and lived with his friend Carol, whom he enjoyed traveling with. While in Colorado, he worked for CoorsTek in Golden Colorado and was a Croupier/Blackjack Dealer for charitable casino parties for affluent people including Mike Shanahan who, at the time, was coach of the Denver Broncos. Upon retirement he returned to Stratford and enjoyed taking all his relatives and friends to and from the local airports. He enjoyed hanging out at the lake with his cousins, helping his neighbors and being Uncle Bobby in the neighborhood who loved caring for Sammy, the dog next door. The family wishes to thank everyone for their support and kindness. He is survived by his brother, Eric Joseph Cornish and his wife Joann; his nieces and nephews, Kara & Brad Taylor and Jillian Taylor & Simon Baier; and his two favorite grand-nephews Zachery & Colton Taylor. He will be missed by all his cousins and their children whom he loved dearly and his last surviving Uncle, Roy Worman, a World War II Veteran whom he enjoyed spending time with. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister Barbara Cornish Taylor Crebase and his brother Guy Marcel Cornish. Friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford. Interment will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may visit with the family Saturday morning before service time from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Diabetes Association, 2080 Silas Deane Hwy.
