Obituary for Robert L. Morrill
Robert Leo Morrill, aged 83, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2015. Robert was born February 22, 1931 in Bridgeport to the late Mary (Bergin) and Leo Morrill. He graduated from Harding High school and received his degree from Fordham University. Robert served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. After his military service, he was employed for many years by Sikorsky and Norden Systems, both affiliated with United Technologies. After retirement, he worked part time for the Connecticut Post. He was also a lifetime member of VFW Post 9460 of Stratford. Robert was a parishioner for many years at St. Mark’s Church in Stratford where he performed in several plays and Cabaret shows, as well as being a reader and a volunteer at church bazaars. He enjoyed softball, tennis, and platform tennis. He will be remembered best for his sparkling eyes, warm and playful personality and kind, caring and generous nature. Robert was predeceased by his wife, the late Carol (Prevot) Morrill. Remembering him lovingly are daughter Ellen Morrill of Stratford, son Robert and wife Sandra of Shelton and grandchildren Allison Morrill, Robert (Robbie) Morrill and Ryan Morrill. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford. Interment with military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may visit with the family Friday morning before Mass time from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert's name may be made to the Connecticut Special Olympics, 2666 State St., Unit 1, Hamden, CT 06517, specialolympicsct@soct.org.
