Obituary for Robert Gordon Bartram, Sr.
BARTRAM - Robert Gordon Bartram, Sr., age 92 of Huntington, CT, beloved husband of the late Julie T. Mariotti Bartram, son of the late Samuel and Ethel Bartram, passed away February 18, 2013. Born September 9, 1920 in Kokomo, Indiana, Mr. Bartram lived in Stratford for many years before moving to Huntington in 1974. He was a World War II Veteran who served in the 3018th Army Air Force Base Unit at Kingman Army Air Field in Arizona, the 515th Field Artillery Battalion in France, the 106th Infantry Division in Germany and the 140th Military Police Company at the U.K. Base Guardhouse in London, England. He was lifetime member of the American Legion of Stratford, CT. Mr. Bartram was a Fire Inspector at the Remington Arms Company of Bridgeport, Tax Assessor for the Town of Stratford and Road Construction Estimator for the former Silliman Company of Bridgeport. He was an avid sportsman who loved to fish, ski, hang glide and parachute. He is on The Honor Roll of the Hall of Fame of Parachuting. Photography was also a passionate hobby he enjoyed all of his life. He is survived by his son Robert G. Bartram III and his wife Jacqueline of Stamford; his daughter Sharon E. Bartram of West Haven; his brother Ted Bartram of Huntington; two sisters Irene Himmelberger of Kissimmee, FL and Marie Goodin of Milford, CT; four grandchildren Robert G. Bartram III and his wife Sara of Nashville, TN, Richard S. Bartram and his wife Lisette of Lima, Peru, Jennifer Benichak of Stratford and Amanda Benichak of West Haven; two great grandchildren Tristan Cash Bartram of Nashville, TN and Illika Bartram of Lima, Peru and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Elizabeth Bridgette Reilly Bartram and his brother George Bartram of Huntington. He was a wonderful husband, son, father, grandfather and great grandfather and he will be missed very much. At his request, there will be no calling hours.
