Obituary for Robert McFarland
On April 17th, 2022, The New York Yankees lost their biggest fan when Robert McFarland, 86, of Orange, CT, a lifelong resident of Stratford, CT passed away in the presence of his family. Born on July 29,1935 and raised in Brooklyn, New York, he never forgot his roots. As the patriarch of the McFarland family, he leaves behind his beloved wife Connie McFarland. There was nothing the two of them loved more than being surrounded by family. Their relationship taught us all what true love is supposed to look like.
A family man and avid lifelong sports fan, Robert was a true representation of integrity, sincerity, and kindness. He will be greatly missed, as he was a “steady hand” in the lives of all his loved ones. He taught us the meaning of hard work, reliability, loyalty, and unconditional love. As much as the loss of this incredible man pains us; we are all better people for having had his influence in our lives.
Robert also leaves behind his brother, Jay McFarland (Judy McFarland); his children, Rita Schwieters, Joyce McFarland Moser, Debra Weinstein (Jordan Weinstein), Lisa McFarland Ballaro, and Robert McFarland (Elizabeth McFarland); grandchildren, Jana Feathers (Frank Feathers), Rikki Lee Barrow (Danielle Barrow), Angela Ballaro, Jessica Ballaro, Erica Weinstein, Christina Ballaro, Ashley Weinstein, Samuel Schwieters and Brooke McFarland; great grandchildren, Tyler Ballaro, Lily Forster, Erika Feathers, Hayley Feathers, Mia Carroll, Caleb Feathers, Sienna Zichichi and Walker Burrow. Bob was predeceased by his brothers, Walter McFarland, Donald McFarland, Dennis McFarland and his son-in-law, Billy Schwieters.
We invite you to join us for a celebration of Bob’s life at Vazzano’s Four Seasons at 337 Kenyon Street in Stratford, CT on Monday, May 2, 2022 at 5:30 PM. We will be streaming the New York Yankees vs the Toronto Blue Jays game at 7:07 PM because that man never missed a game.
