Obituary for Robert Raymond Joyce
Robert Raymond Joyce, age 85, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Dorothy Ann (Gaydos) Joyce, passed away peacefully on Monday January 25, 2016. Son of the late Raymond Joyce and Lucy Joyce, Robert was born in Bridgeport May 21, 1930 and had been a lifetime area resident.
Robert was retired from Pitney Bowes. He was a Veteran and proud to have served his country in the Navy as a Seabee during the Korean War. He received the Connecticut Veterans War Time Service Metal in grateful recognition of honorable and selfless service during a time of war in the armed forces of the United States of America. He was outgoing and enjoyed talking to anyone he met and made many friends along the way.
He was devoted to his family. He is survived by his pet dog "Jack" and five children, Deborah Joyce of Stratford, Donna Knott and her husband Robert of Ansonia, Robin Brennan and her husband Kevin of Westerly, RI, Edward Joyce and his wife Peggy of Derby and Rae Marie Joyce of Stratford; seven grandchildren, Gregory Rocks, Kelly Stewart, Joseph Knott, Robert Knott, Krystina Knott, Raymond Knott and Emily Joyce; five great-grandchildren, Avery, Alex, Chase, Gracie and Colby; and two sisters, Janet Steinberg of Stratford and Lois Miklus of Fairfield and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Barbara Alfano and Raymond Joyce.
Friends are invited to attend a funeral service Thursday evening at 4:30 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford. Interment will be private. Friends may visit with the family following the service time from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
