Obituary for Rose Milewski

Rose Addorisio Milewski, age 99, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late John J. Milewski, Sr., passed into eternal rest in her home, surrounded by family, on Sunday, September 11th, 2022, two weeks shy of her 100th birthday. Rose was born on September 30th, 1922, in Bridgeport, eldest child of the late Michael and Vincenza (Papparella) Addorisio.

Rose was a lifelong Stratford resident and co-owner of Milewski’s Service Center, where she worked alongside her husband for 35 years, servicing cars and making many friends with her warm smile and caring ways. Rose was small in stature but her great love for others allowed her to perform almost herculean feats. She was tireless and always put others first, right up until her last days, when she was still sending out cards and notes. Rose had many, many gifts, including sewing, gardening and cooking, but those always took second place to her passion for helping others, to listen without judgement and to leave the world a better place than she found it.

Rose was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her son John J. Milewski, Jr., daughters Joan Wolf and her husband William, Rosemary Danaher and her husband Mitchell, grandchildren Margaret M. Wolf (Chase Smith), Claire H. Wolf, Matthew T. Danaher (Michelle) and Katherine Rose Danaher, and great-grandchildren Quentin J. Smith, Ronan C. Smith and Maisie Rose Danaher, as well as her beloved sister Micheline Hope and many cherished nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by her brother, Leonard Addorisio and her sister Frances Verrillo.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, September 19th, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave, Shelton, CT. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull, CT.

Friends may visit with the family Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford, CT 06615.
