Obituary for Russell J. Sequeira Sr.
Russell J. Sequeira Sr., age 72, of Milford, CT, previously of Stratford, beloved husband of Estella (Mello) Sequeira passed away, suddenly and peacefully in his sleep at his home on Friday, January 15, 2021. Russell was born December 17, 1948 in Bridgeport. He was the son of the late Russell A. and Antonia I. (Ramalho) Sequeira and had been a lifelong area resident.
Russell was a dedicated employee of Sikorsky Aircraft where he worked since 1973 in Network Management and recently retired after 45 years. In his early years of life, Russell enjoyed camping, fishing, softball, and riding his motorcycle. Later in life, he became an avid golfer. Russell was one of the founding members of the nonprofit organization, Ten Stars United Inc., which raises money through an annual golf tournament to fund college scholarships for area high school and college students. Above all, Russell valued family. He enjoyed the quality time he spent with his loving wife, children and two grandchildren whom he adored. Russell especially loved taking day-trips with his wife, Estella and spending time in his pool, with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years of marriage; three children, Russell Jr. of Milford, Shawn of Shelton and Kelli Sequeira of Milford; two grandchildren, Shawn Jr. and Skylin Sequeira; his sister Diane Sequeira of Milford; his uncle Joao “Johnny” Ramalho of Lake Wales, FL; Godchild, Tanya Paul Ellis of Stratford, many honorary nieces and nephews, as well as his cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his eldest daughter, Melanie Sequeira, and his brother, Francisco Sequeira
Friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. in Saint James Church, 2070 Main St, Stratford.
Interment will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford.
Friends may visit with his family Thursday before Mass time from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St, Stratford, CT.
Face masks and social distancing are required for all services
