Obituary for Stephen A. Palasky
Stephen A. Palasky, age 94 of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Shirley (Edwards) Palasky, passed away peacefully in his home on February 4, 2023. Steve was born June 1, 1928, in Bridgeport, CT., son of the late Stephen and Mary (Soltis) Palasky.
He graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1946 and enlisted in the Navy shortly after graduation. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Bridgeport. Steve worked for Sikorsky Aircraft in Bridgeport and Stratford for 40 years, retiring from his position in Configuration Management in 1992.
Steve was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought him great joy. He was a hardworking person and a gentle man who never said an unkind word about anyone. Steve enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a great handyman and could fix anything. He enjoyed camping, woodworking, yardwork, and was very helpful on construction projects for his children.
He is survived by his children Patricia Palasky-Canning and her husband William, Stephen M. Palasky and his wife Jamie, Thomas Palasky and his wife Yvonne, as well as three grandchildren, Amanda Vrabel, Matthew Palasky, Alexa Bradstreet, two great-grandchildren Avery Vrabel and Rylan Vrabel, and several nephews and a niece.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his sisters Helen Palasky and Dorothy Palasky.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Vitas Hospice for the professional care they provided.
Friends can visit with the family on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at 10:00 am – 11:30 am at William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford, CT.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am in the funeral home celebrated by Fr. David Cochran, followed by burial at Lakeview Cemetery in Bridgeport.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Steve’s name may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org.
