Obituary for Stephen E. Woods
Stephen E. Woods, age 79, of Stratford, beloved husband of Linda (Elder/Ando) Woods, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024. Stephen was born November 25, 1944, in San Francisco, CA, son of the late Stewart E. and Myrna Woods.
He was a United States Navy veteran having served on the Aircraft Carrier Yorktown. He was proud to say he was around the horn twice. He was retired from Pepperidge Farm, Town Fair Tire and Sikorsky Airport. He was also the superintendent of Tide Harbor Towers for 35 years. He was an avid golfer and pool player and an active member of Port 5. Steve also liked to take walks around the neighborhood with his caregivers Sandy or Nancy.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister Sandy Woods and stepson, Bruce Ando.
Friends are invited to attend his funeral service celebrated by Deacon F. Paul Kurmay on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St, Stratford, CT.
Friends may visit with his family before service time from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Port 5 National Assoc. of Naval Veterans, 69 Brewster St, Bpt. CT 06605 or The Stratford Historical Society, Box 382, Stratford, CT 06497.
