Obituary for Sylvia (Pereira) Cronk
Sylvia Cronk, 90, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Robert Cronk, Sr. (2017) after being married for 50 years!
She was born in Ludlow, Massachusetts on November 23, 1931. She was the daughter of Frank and Maria (Alves) Pereira.
Sylvia worked at Salernos for over 30 years. She enjoyed duckpin bowling, feeding the swans, watching UCONN games and completing crossword puzzles, but her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as “Ducky” Grandma. She spent many years watching her grandchildren, feeding them M&M’s, lifeguarding while they swam in the pool, and making precious memories with them all.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son Mark, her grandsons, Frankie and Mark, her son-in-law Joe Marinko, her three sisters, Mary Picheco, Belle Molchin, Sophia Timpanelli and her sister-in-law, Frances Cronk.
Her survivors include her best friend and daughter, Mary Marinko, her sons Frank Carbone (Emily) and Robert Cronk, Jr. (Debbie) and her sister Theresa Bjorlin. In addition, she is survived by her precious grandchildren, Heather Shumyhora (Justin), Melissa Fergusen (Domingo), Brianne Potter (Jason), Wesley Cronk, Samantha Carbone, Julie Carbone and Kaitlyn Carbone. Sylvia also had six great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Nolan, Kaiden, Lucas, Kennedy and Logan. Her 7th great-grandchild will be born later this year.
Services will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. Calling hours will be from 9:30am-10:30am at William R. McDonald Funeral Home, followed by an 11:00am Mass at St. James Church, in Stratford. Burial will be at Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the American Diabetes Association, https://www.diabetes.org.
