Obituary for William R. Standish
STANDISH - William R. Standish, age 40, of Stratford, beloved husband of Rebecca (Verity) Standish, passed away suddenly Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in Stamford. Bill was born December 3, 1973 in Bridgeport, adored son of Edith (Mirto) Standish of Stratford and the late William Standish and had been a life time area resident. A graduate of Platt Tech, he was a carpenter by trade, loved his family and loved the outdoors, especially fishing camping and hunting. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by three sons, Andrew Verity of Shelton, Nicholas Verity of Stratford and Stephen Verity of Ansonia; one sister, Catherine Smarz and her husband Joseph of Seymour; two grandchildren, Isabella and Connor; his mother and father-in-law, Elwood and Candace Verity of Long Island and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and brothers and sisters-in-law. Friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St. Interment will be private.
