Obituary for William W. Gellatly
William (Bill) W. Gellatly, age 85 of Stratford, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Saturday, November 29, 2014. Born in Bridgeport on October 9,1929, he was the son of the late John and Laura (Wright) Gellatly. He was husband of his devoted wife of 64 years, Sandra (Dragone). Bill was a member of, and worked for the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 38. He was a Korean War Veteran who received 3 Bronze Service Stars, a United Nations Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He loved spending time with his wife and family and was always at their side when a job needed to be done, while whistling a tune or singing a song, traveled the U.S. and Europe and was a Friend of Bill where he always reached out to those in need. Survivors include his son Guy Gellatly; daughters Jennifer Sirella and husband John, Deborah Becker and husband John and son-in-law Sal Aurelia; grandchildren Jason and Christi Gellatly, Stacey Gellatly and James Dawes, John and Kendra Becker, Nicholas Becker, Michael and Cheryl Becker, Jessica and Matt Waite, Julia and John Carlozzi, Jaime and Rob Bonetti, Sandra Aurelia and Sal Aurelia IV; great-grandchildren Megan, John, Ellie, Christian, Connor, Talan, May, Bella, Lucas, and Tanner who brought him great joy; a brother Charles Gellatly and several nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his much loved daughter Sharon Aurelia; brothers John Gellatly, Raymond Gellatly, Daniel Gellatly and sisters Marjorie Emerian, Etta Gourley and Ida Brennan. A special thanks to Renona Pryor, Visiting Nurse Aide who was kind, caring, gentle and dependable. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial by meeting directly at St. Mark's Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a military burial at St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Rd., Wilton, CT 06897 or Alzheimer's Association, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
