Obituary for Joan (Miller) Corcoran
Joan Loretta (Miller) Corcoran, age 66 of Milford, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Monday, August 1, 2016 in Bridgeport Hospital. Joan was born May 16, 1950 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Baker) Miller and had been a life time area resident.
Joan or "Corky" loved life and all its simple pleasures. She taught us that joy in life can come from what is always around us; watching her moon, listening to the pitter-patter of rain, reveling in the humor of falling down a hill with only minor injuries and most importantly, enjoying good company and conversation over tea and coffee.
Joan, was retired from Peoples Bank. She loved camping, oldies music, hot air balloon festivals and ALWAYS carried a stash of candy. What Joan cherished most were all of the children in her life, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her partner, Rose Rodriguez of Milford, her three children, Kelly Leahy and her husband Ryan of Newington, Jeff Corcoran and his wife Heather of Seymour and Joan Poirier of Stratford; seven grandchildren, Brody, Mia, Alyson, Colin, Meghan, Sarah and Madelyn; four sisters, Mary Rakos, Kathy Bombardier and her husband Butch, Jean Debrizzi and her husband Curt and Laury Generous and her husband Harry; three brothers, Christopher Miller and his wife Lourdes, Dennis Miller, and Thomas Miller and his wife Roberta; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Miller.
Friends are invited to visit with the family THURSDAY, August 4, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on MONDAY, August 8, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. by meeting directly at Saint James Church. Interment will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery.
You will always be missed and forever loved...to the moon and back.
