Obituary for Raymond J Fildes
Raymond J. Fildes, age 84, of Orange, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017 in Yale New Haven Hospital. Mr. Fildes was born November 11, 1932 in Bridgeport, son of the late Thomas and Mary (Sullivan) English and had been a life time area resident.
He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and was retired from Sikorsky Aircraft. Ray enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid Tennis and UCONN Women's Basketball fan as well as a big Betty Boop fan.
Survivors include, his four children, Thomas Fildes and his wife Dorothy of Stratford, Sharon Lebowitz and her husband Mark of Orange, Lisa D’Avignon of Orange and Wendy Fildes-Gebeau and her husband Garry of Seymour; six grandchildren, Clarissa, Kevin, Alyssa, Adriana, Danielle and Emily; one sister, Marie Cotter; sister-in-law, Barbara English and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas English.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial followed by Military Honors on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in St Ann’s Church, 501 Naugatuck Ave, Milford, CT 06460.
Interment in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield will be private.
Friends may visit with his family Friday morning before Mass from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ray may be made to the Veterans Administration, Memorial Program, 950 Campbell Ave, West Haven, CT 06516.
