Obituary for Phyliss Karen (Simpson) Hughes
Phyliss Karen Hughes, age 69, of Stratford beloved wife of James Hughes passed away Monday September 24, 2018 in Bridgeport Hospital.
Known to her friends and family as Karen, she was born May 11, 1949 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Joseph and Patricia (Powell) Simpson and had been a lifetime area resident.Â
Karen was retired from Jenkins Valve and the Stratford Pet Hospital. She was an animal lover, enjoyed gardening and had a green thumb, and was an avid and accomplished Crocheter and knitter. Â
Survivors in addition to her husband include her daughter, Lauretta Hughes, five grandchildren, Kayla Hughes, Kayden, Kosmo, Kelsey and Kara deFriesse; two brothers, Paul Simpson and his wife Cindy and David Simpson and several nieces and nephews.Â
Friends are invited to attend a funeral service celebrated by Deacon Timothy Bolton on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford.
Interment will be private.
Friends may visit with Karen's family Monday before service time from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
