Serving Our Community Since 1951A graduate of Harding H.S. and the University of Bridgeport, Fred was a retired Vice President of Raybestos/Raymark and served on the Board of Directors of ETRA. He traveled the country with the Civilian Conservation Corps. Fred was a proud WWII U.S. Air Force veteran serving with the 393rd Squadron, based at the Kwajalein Atoll and was an aircraft crew member participating in the atomic bomb testing at the Bikini Atoll.
He was a fan of the NY Yankees and NE Patriots, thoroughly enjoyed lobster dinners with his nephews, competing in the Senior Olympics and, above all, spending time with family. He and Madge were instrumental in the formation of the Barnum Festival, particularly the Champions on Parade. Fred's kindness, respect and commitment to his family and country, his silent pride, dignity and decency were the benchmark of a great generation that made our todays possible.
Fred is survived by his son Joseph Neupert and daughter Loranda Costello, both of Florida; grandson Jason Broadbent, Sgt-U.S. Army Reserves; granddaughter Caitlyn Costello and great-grandson Dominic Beardsley. He was a loving uncle to Harry and Chris Ackley, Rosemary Markoja, Sandra Maleski, Lynda Williams, Kelley Jozefick, Kevin and Brian O'Shea and Patricia Germano, as well as several nieces and nephews and a generation of grands who loved their "Poppy" unconditionally. He was predeceased by his sister, Rita Ackley.
