Obituary for Arthur V. Moran

Arthur V. Moran, age 83, of Milford, beloved husband of Eleanor "Toot" (Stockman) Moran, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017.  Mr. Moran was born September 17, 1933 in Bridgeport, son of the late Arthur V. and Ruth (Dessureau) Moran.

Art graduated Harding High School in 1951.  He played basketball for the Army team in Germany and was a player-coach for both German men and women sport teams.  He married Eleanor, his wife of 61 years, in 1955. He was a member of the Stratford VFW and also coached Junior Major Baseball and Girls' Basketball in Milford for years, winning three "First Place" trophies with the Mavericks.

Art worked for the Stratford Post Office as a Letter Carrier for 32 years.  He was a Union Steward, organized the Stratford Social Club and played Santa on his route for 25 years, bringing presents and candy to the children while answering their letters to Santa.  He also worked many part-time jobs to support his family.

Art loved to travel, visiting Europe and every U.S. State (except Hawaii).  He loved to draw, was an avid fisherman and lifelong NY Giants and Chicago Cubs fan.  He was also a Civil War buff.  Art always said he was married to the most wonderful woman who gave him the best family ever.

In addition to his wife Eleanor, he is survived by his children, Jay Moran (Jill) of Milford, Donna Wydra (Paul Jr.) of Wallingford, Scott Moran (Jeannette) of Orange; a sister Sharon Cataldo (James) of Milford; a brother Keith Dessureau (Jean) of East Haven; six grandchildren Timothy, Kristin, Jennifer, Paul III, Thomas and Amanda; three great-grandchildren Brynn, Ryan and James and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford, CT and at 11:00 in Trinity Lutheran Church, 21 Robert Treat Pkwy, Milford, CT.  Interment with full Military Honors will follow in King's Highway Cemetery, 271 Cherry St., Milford, CT.  Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
