Obituary for Charles E. Sutton Jr.
Charles E. Sutton Jr., age 87, of Milford, beloved husband of the late Rita (Troiano) Sutton passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Charlie Sutton was born May 14, 1931 in Bridgeport, son of the late Charles E. and Eve (Gouin) Sutton Sr. and had been a resident of Milford for 58 years.
Charlie was a proud United States Navy Veteran and served on the USS Torsk during the Korean War. Charlie was a retired insurance agent for John Hancock Insurance Company. He was an avid Boston Redsox fan, who always had a smile and a good joke to make you laugh. If you ever heard Charlie’s deep and friendly voice, you would surely never forget it.
He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially attending his granddaughter’s basketball and softball games. His granddaughters lovingly referred to him as “Bumpa”.
Survivors include his three daughters, Tracey Donegan and her husband Michael, Colleen Porter and her husband Richard and Kim Sutton; five grandchildren, Erin and Sarah Donegan Charles, Connor and Derek O’Dowd; two great grandchildren, Deklin and Mason O’Dowd; one sister, Laura Sutton; one step grandson Matthew Porter and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Edward.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 11 a.m. by meeting directly at Saint Mary’s Church, 70 Gulf Street in Milford.
Interment with military honors will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Shelton.
Friends may visit with his family Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St, Stratford.
