Concetta "Teena" (Petriello) Brown, age 91, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late James Brown, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Jewish Senior Services, Bridgeport, CT with her daughter Allison by her side.
Teena was born January 24, 1927 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Bartolomeo and Antonetta (Infante) Petriello.
She was a graduate of Harding High School’s class of 1944. She married the love of her life, Jimmie, in 1947. During the following 13 years, they moved between New London, CT and Key West, FL while Jimmie served in the US Navy. In 1960, they settled in Stratford where they resided together until Jimmie’s death in 1978. Teena began working as a Sales Associate at Read’s Department Store in Trumbull in 1966 and was employed there for more than 40 years, retiring from what is now Macy’s. Teena enjoyed hosting holiday gatherings, movies, concerts, the beach and Broadway shows but, above all, loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her three children, Elizabeth Kipp and her husband, Richard of Stratford, Glenn Brown of Milford, and Allison Brown of Stratford; three grandchildren, Seth O’Brien and his wife Leonor of Trumbull, Sarah Gargiulo and her husband Paul of Weston, and Brett O’Brien of Stratford; four brothers, Sal Petriello, Anthony Petriello, Ralph Petriello and Bart Petriello; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter Cynthia Brown.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Jewish Senior Services who not only cared for Teena during her final years, but loved her and added quality to her life.
