Obituary for David A. Poppa
David Anthony Poppa, age 55, of Bridgeport, beloved son of Frances (Mikulka) Poppa of Bridgeport and the late Fedele Poppa Sr., passed away Friday, February 20, 2015 in Bridgeport. Mr. Poppa was born September 23, 1959 in Bridgeport and was a lifelong Bridgeport resident. Dave worked security for UPS in Stratford and graduated in 1979 from Harding High School. He enjoyed his music, especially Elvis Presley and Tom Jones and was an avid sports fan especially of baseball, wrestling, hockey and auto racing. He loved life, loved to cook and laugh and joke with friends and family. His passion was taking care of his cat and his favorite dog, “Boy” when he wasn't working or tinkering and fixing anything electronic. In addition to his beloved mother, he is survived by five brothers Leonard F. Poppa, John Poppa Sr. and his wife Denise, Joseph Poppa, all of Bridgeport, Daniel Poppa and his wife Domenica of Naugatuck and Lawrence Poppa of Stratford; three sisters Frances Velez and her husband Jorge Sr. of Bridgeport, Theresa Stabell and her husband Raymond Sr. of Georgia and Mary Poppa of Bridgeport; twelve nieces and nephews Victoria Velez, Jorge Velez Jr., John Poppa Jr., Tiffany Poppa, Denise Poppa, Christopher Poppa, John Joseph DeSanto III, Melissa DeSanto, Nicholas Poppa, Raymond Stabell Jr., Fedele Poppa and Brian Poppa. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a brother Fedele Poppa Jr.; two sisters Valerie and Linda Poppa; a nephew Brandon M. Velez and a niece Nicole Poppa. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass celebrated by Father Bruce Roby on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. by meeting directly at Saint James Church, 2070 Main St., Stratford.
