Obituary for Edna (Brown) O'Donnell
Edna M. (Brown) O'Donnell, age 98, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late John Charles O'Donnell, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016 in the Lord Chamberlain Nursing Facility, Stratford. She was born March 6, 1918 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Baxter and Mary (Gillespie) Brown.
Edna was a retired secretary for Henry Hubbell. She and John were married for 65 years and were very close. They loved the trips they took with their family up the Hudson River to Lake Champlain in their boat, the Dalton. She was a teacher's aide at St. James School in Stratford. Also, she choreographed musical revues for St. Charles Church in Bpt. and St. Joseph's High School in Trumbull. She loved Show Business and was very always supportive of her daughter and grandchildren in the business. Their love of travel took them on a cruise on one of the last voyages of the QE 11 to Bermuda and then on to Ireland to celebrate their heritage. She was also an avid card player and enjoyed her Bingo nights out.
Survivors include her three daughters, Anne "Susie" Bruenetti and her husband Richard of Lordship, Sally O'Donnell Austin and her husband William of New Jersey and Kate Tourigny of Stratford; twelve grandchildre; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, John C. O'Donnell Jr, a brother Baxter Brown and a son-in-law Ronald Tourigny.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday April 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. by meeting directly in Our Lady of Peace Church, Stratford.
