Obituary for Erminia (Rua) Augusto
AUGUSTO - Erminia (Rua) Augusto, age 86, of Stratford, formerly of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Manuel Augusto, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Augusto was born May 31, 1927 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Joao Rua and Joaquina Goncalves. She then moved to Chaves, Portugal until she was in her thirties when she moved back to the Bridgeport area. Erminia was employed by Acme United of Bridgeport for many years. She enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, walking, sewing and gardening. She was the beloved mother of Anna Petersen, Joseph Augusto and Elizabeth Evans, grandmother of Christopher and Jason Evans, Stephanie Halpin and Suzanne Albernaz; great-grandmother of Ashlyn and Jack. She is also survived by a sister, Preciosa Goncalves and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Maria Albernaz; a brother, Joao Rua, and two sisters, Rosa Teixeira and Elena Almeida. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St, Stratford, and at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, 297 Second Hill Lane, Stratford, for a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in Saint Michael’s Garden Mausoleum, 2205 Stratford Ave, Stratford.
