Obituary for Frances (Schwarz) Atkinson
Frances (Schwarz) Atkinson, age 87 of Milford, beloved wife of the late Sidney Atkinson, Jr., entered into the Lord's Kingdom on Friday, November 13, 2015 after being surrounded by her loving children Dawn Rybicki Perkins of Milford and Barry Rybicki (wife Susan) of Arizona.
Fran was born on June 28, 1928 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Rudolph and Freida (Baker) Schwarz and had been a lifetime area resident.
In addition to her children, she is also survived by her stepson Bradley Atkinson and his wife Shannon; six grandchildren, John Janucik and his wife Raffaela, Stephanie Janucik, Lauren Bajelis, Barry Rybicki, Lisa Rybicki Vetter, and Kirsten Rybicki; two step-grandchildren, Tyler and Samantha; eleven great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Nicholas, Linda, Leslie, Kane, Lucas, Devin, Jackson, Ryan, Lizzy, and Jake; and her special nephew John Schwarz and his wife Judy.
She was predeceased by her son, Steve Rybicki, and her grandson, B.J. Rybicki.
Fran was retired from Bryant Electric. She was an avid bowler and for many years, she and her husband, Sid, competed in the Amateur Bowlers Tour (ABT). She also enjoyed weekly Bingo games at St. James in Stratford. One of Fran's favorite pastimes was her needlepoint; she made it a tradition to give all family members personalized Christmas ornaments each year. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she always made it very special with her famous fried shrimp and a lobster feast. Fran will be missed by all the lives she's touched along her journey, especially by her family.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to all of the staff on the second floor at the Lord Chamberlain Nursing Facility in Stratford. We appreciate all of the special warmth, love, and care you showed Fran during her stay. God's got it from here.
Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Fran's life on Sunday, November 22 from 2:00-4:00pm in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford. Interment will be private.
