Obituary for Frank E. Spada
Frank E. Spada, age 92, of Stratford, beloved husband of Lena (Pagliaro) Spada, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, in Bishop Wicke Health & Rehabilitation Center, Shelton.  Frank was born on January 17, 1924 in Stratford, CT, was the son of the late Louis and Primina Spada and was a lifetime area resident.

Frank was a United States Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II.  He was one of the founders, co-owners and Chef at Spada's Blue Goose Restaurant. After retirement he was also the Chef at the Piedmont Lodge and worked at Stop & Shop. He was a graduate of Stratford high school where he excelled in all sports, especially football and went on to play semi-pro football for the Stratford Rockets. He was also an avid Yankees and Giants fan.

In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by his daughter Victoria (Earrol) Spada; his beloved grandchildren, Erica and Raymond Paszkowski of Stratford; three sisters, Rita Barbero, Elma Schrillo and Linda Bietsch; sisters-in-law Violet Spada and Edith Spada and several nieces and nephews.

Frank was predeceased by his brothers, Andrew, Ernest, Charles and Edward and a sister, Lilian Nelson; two nephews, Charles Nelson and Edward Spada.

Friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St. Stratford and at 10:30 a.m. for a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial in St. James Church, 2070 Main St., Stratford. . Entombment with military honors will follow in Saint Michael's Garden Mausoleum. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Bishop Wicke family especially to Pavilion 4 for taking such wonderful care of Frank.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank's memory may be made to either the Disabled American Veterans Fund, VA Medical Center, P.O. Box 310909, Newington ,CT 06131 or Boys Town, 200 Flanagan Blvd, PO Box 6000, Boys Town, NE 68010-9988.
