Obituary for Gary Marcus Feather
Gary Marcus Feather, aged 45, of Stratford passed away on November 11, 2016. Gary was born on February 4, 1971. He was a 1989 graduate of Bunnell High School. He served in the United States Army Reserves, where he trained as a medic. He was a certified EMT. He was also a graduate of UConn and took a number of supplementary courses in business, psychology and social work, and he received a certificate for AutoCAD from Porter and Chester Institute.
He had a variety of interests and skills and started his own business, Absolutely Clean CT. He was primarily a subcontractor, working to clean and remodel homes, but enjoyed every aspect of the business. Gary truly relished being his own boss and was always working to accommodate his clients and expand the services he offered. He was also interested in the stock market and was an avid daytrader.
Gary was a fan of all sports, and he loved basketball and softball in particular. He spent a number of years playing for Stratford's own world champion softball team, the J.A.W.S., and he still enjoyed schooling local teens in streetball when the occasion arose. He was a loyal Yankees and Dolphins fan, but he generously agreed to bring his wife to Game 6 of the 2013 World Series to see her team capture the trophy.
Gary's enthusiasm was contagious, and his greatest joy was spending time with and helping his family and friends. He was the life of any party, and his zest for living will be tremendously missed.
He also enjoyed life's simple pleasures: sunrises, sunsets, long drives through the country, and trips to the beach (with lots of sunscreen). His unbridled enthusiasm made him beloved by children and adults alike. He was very giving of his time and energy and a loyal friend with an enormous heart, and he could always be relied upon to help anyone in need at any time, in any place.
He is survived by his loving family: his wife, Alison Miller; his mother, Maureen Ahern; his aunt, Rita Ahern; his uncle, Brian Ahern, and his wife, Jo Ann, as well as his cousins, Sean Ahern, Abby Ahern, and Jeremy Ahern; his uncle, Robert Feather, and his wife Marella; as well as his half brother, Christopher Feather.
He was predeceased by his father, Gary T. Feather, and his uncle, Tim Ahern. He also leaves behind a number of lifelong and devoted friends.
.Friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St, Stratford, and at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church in Stratford for a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow. Friends may visit with the family Thursday from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Gary's name to a charity of choice.
