Obituary for Inez Francis
Inez Francis, age 94, was born in Pratville Manchester, Jamaica on March 23, 1928 to the late Diana Rodney and Thomas Reid. She was called to be in heaven by the Lord on August 3, 2022. She migrated to the USA in 1967 and took residence in Bronx, NY for many years.
Mrs. Francis attended Fordham Medical School in the Bronx to obtain her Certified Nurse’s Aide certification. Upon graduating, she worked for many years until her retirement as a CNA for United Odd Fellow & Rebekah Nursing Home in Bronx, NY.
On a typical Saturday morning you would find Mrs. Francis playing her favorite Sam Cooke or Frank Sinatra tunes while cooking her favorite Caribbean dishes (i.e stew peas and rice, cowfoot, curry goat, escovitch fish, carrot juice, hominy corn, sweet potato pudding, you name it!). Mrs. Francis loved to celebrate her children and grandchildren’s birthday with her famous triple layer frosted homemade cake.
Mrs. Francis enjoyed singing, dancing, listening to music, reading her bible, and watching wrestling. Her famous sayings were “peace and love” and “ya mon”. She never complained and would frequently respond when asked how she is doing with “it could be worse”.
Mrs. Francis’ children are Winston, Hixford, Joy, Patrick, Donna, and Owen. She had one son, Errol who preceded her in death. She also leaves behind many great-grandchildren, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews. She will be greatly missed by us all.
Friends and family are invited to attend her funeral service on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. be meeting directly at the Stratford Baptist Church, 131 Huntington Rd, Stratford, CT 06614.
Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Putnam, New York.
