Obituary for John Russell Sunbury
John Russell Sunbury, age 80 of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Joan (Garrity) Sunbury passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 in Saint Vincent Medical Center, Bridgeport.
Mr. Sunbury was born March 28, 1936 in Bridgeport, son of the late Clifford and Helen (Maloney) Sunbury and had been a life time area resident.
John was a graduate of Harding High School and retired from the A&P Food Stores after many years. He was a proud United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed reading and smoking his pipe, was a great animal lover and will be missed by his dog Princess, and always had time for the Lawrence Welk reruns.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his six children, William Edgett and his wife Jean, Lynn Staton and her husband John, Russell Edgett and his wife Sabine, Rhea Coles, Cindy Zaugg and her husband Allen and John Coles and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend his funeral service with full military honors on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. by meeting directly in Saint Michael's Cemetery, 2205 Stratford Ave., Stratford, CT.
