Obituary for Lois (Erlendson) Cranston
CRANSTON – Lois (Erlendson) Cranston, age 90, of Stratford, beloved wife for over 70 years of Edward R. Cranston, Sr., passed away Friday, May 8, 2015 at Bridgeport Hospital. Lois was born October 23, 1924 in Grafton, North Dakota, daughter of the late Eggert and Margret (Gillis) Erlendson and was a long time Stratford resident. Lois was a dedicated parishioner of St. James Church in Stratford, she loved to read, never missed an episode of Jeopardy, and was proud of her Icelandic heritage. She was a homemaker who also worked for many years as a receptionist at Rabine Family Dental in Stratford. Survivors, in addition to her beloved husband, include her five children: Ellen Smith and her husband Robert of North Brookfield, MA, Patty Guedes and her husband John of Shelton, Ed Cranston, Jr. and his wife Pam, Kathy Sulik and her husband Doug and Mike Cranston and his wife Sue all of Stratford; twelve grandchildren: Tim, Matt, Jennifer and her husband Keith, Johnny and his wife Lizette, Katie, Peter and his wife Gina, Kelsey, Nick, Maggie, Samantha, Erik and Emma; five great-grandchildren: Kaia, Mackenzie, Harper, Joshua and Chloe and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Marvin Erlendson and Buddy Erlendson and her sisters Joyce Peoples, Betty Roterud and Donna Stark. The Cranston family would like to express their sincerest thanks to Dr. Misra, Mary Toohey- Repko, and the entire staff on West Tower 6, Bridgeport Hospital, for their loving and compassionate care. In accordance with Lois’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Church, 2070 Main St., Stratford. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Stratford.
