Obituary for Margaret Carey
CAREY – Margaret M. (McDonnell) Carey, age 85 of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Paul Carey, entered eternal life Thursday, January 17, 2013 in Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Mrs. Carey was born February 15, 1927 in Quincy, Massachusetts, daughter of the late John and Margaret (Treacy) McDonnell, and had been a long time Stratford resident. Mrs. Carey was a retired secretary of Burger & Burger of Stratford, she was a communicant of St. Mark’s Church, a member of the choir, and a Eucharistic Minister. Survivors include two sons, Paul Michael Carey and his wife Karen of Oxford, Tim Carey and his wife Ida of Stratford; three daughters, Kathleen A. Malavenda and her husband Anthony of Bristol, Louise Borchardt and her husband Greg of Cape Coral, FL, and Marylee Breault and her husband Tom of Charlton, MA.; ten grandchildren, Shane Malavenda, Brett Malavenda and his wife Kate, Gretta (Borchardt) Wilson and her husband Justin, Megan (Borchardt) Taylor and her husband Justin, Jessica (Carey) Jean-Jacques and her husband Arnauld, Deanna (Carey) Ritchie and her husband Daniel, Mackenzie Carey, Christopher Breault, Tracey (Breault) Johnson and her husband Chad, and Kaitlyn Carey; nine Great grandchildren: Luke, Camille, Taylor, Zachary, Jaxson, Ace, Maverick, Wren and Luke; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son Thomas Carey and two brothers John Lawrence McDonnell and James McDonnell. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Monday January 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Mark Roman Catholic Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Easton. Friends may visit with the family before Mass time on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford. Donations in her memory may be made to: Connecticut Hospice 100 Double Beach Rd. Branford, CT. 06405.
