Obituary for Mary Ann (Luciano) Petkevich
PETKEVICH - Mary Ann (Luciano) "Tootsie" Petkevich, age 98, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Bernard Petkevich, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2015 in the Jewish Home For The Elderly, Fairfield. Mrs. Petkevich was born March 4, 1917 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late William and Catherine (Schonsky) Luciano and had been a lifetime area resident.
She was a retired Keypunch Operator for Connecticut National Bank and Sikorsky Aircraft. After retirement she worked at Oronoque Pies in Stratford. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church in Stratford where she also taught religious education for many years. Mary Ann will be remembered for her love of children. She loved the kids and she could always be found at any family event hiding away with them eating ice cream and cookies! Mary Ann was also a big fan of the UCONN Huskies girls' basketball team and stayed up many nights watching their games.
Survivors include her son, Mark Petkevich and his wife Kathi of Stratford; her sister, Kathleen Provencher of Milford; two grandchildren Jason Petkevich and Carolyn Petkevich; and many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Michael and William Luciano.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Jewish Home For The Elderly, especially the K-1 Unit for their excellent and compassionate care of Mary Ann.
Friends are invited visit with her family on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St, Stratford. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Grace Church Stratford. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mary Ann's memory be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
