Obituary for Melanie Sequeira
Melanie Sequeira, age 44, of Tregear, NSW Australia, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016 in her home. Born in Bridgeport, CT January 25, 1972, Melanie was a graduate of Bunnell High School as well as Bullard Haven's Nursing School. Â
Melanie worked in the Nursing Field for several years and continued to do so after she moved to Australia 14 years ago, where she worked as an Enrolled Nurse at Uniting Care in Springwood, NSW for 11 years. Melanie enjoyed spending quality time with her goddaughter and family, as well as singing, dancing and dining out. Â
Survivors include her mother Maria Angelo of North Carolina; her father Russell Sequeira and stepmother Estella of Milford; her sister Kelli Sequeira of Milford; four brothers Russell Sequeira Jr. of Milford, Shawn Sequeira of Stratford, Raymond Mercado and his wife Melissa of Shelton and Richie Mercado of Florida; her niece Skylin Sequeira; two nephews Shawn Sequeira Jr. and Aaron Mercado; her maternal grandmother Joanne Angelo; her uncle Raft Angelo; her aunts Diane Sequeira and Cynthia Vega, and her goddaughter Chelsea Xyna Eulaio-Leibeck of Australia. Â She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather Raft Angelo and paternal grandparents Russell and Antonia (Tiny) Sequeira as well as her uncle Francisco Sequeira. Â
Friends may visit with her family on Friday, February 24, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in The William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford, CT.  Family and friends are invited to meet directly at St. James Church, 2110 Main St., Stratford on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. for a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Thomas Lynch.  Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Â
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Melanie's memory to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr., Wallingford, CT 06492.
