Obituary for Nicolle (Mercier) Lanius
Nicolle (Mercier) Lanius, age 93, of East Haven and previously of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Harold Lanius, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018 in the Mary Wade Home, New Haven, CT. Mrs. Lanius was born February 20, 1925 in Vichy, France, daughter of the late Nicholas and Marie (David) Mercier.
In addition to raising and caring for her family, Nicolle worked at Harvey Hubbell and many years thereafter at Sperry Remington. In her retirement she worked as a sales woman for Macy’s. She advocated and helped organize special education classes and social activities for children with special needs.
Survivors include her children, James Lanius and his wife Pat, Michele (Stewart) and her husband Jeff, Jacqueline (Shumway) and her husband James; grandchildren: Jeffery Stewart, Karl Zeilik, Mindy Sherman, Stephen Stewart, Christopher Zeilik and Danielle Hyatt and husband Jared; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Nicolle was predeceased by two daughters, Patricia Lanius and Linda Lanius; one brother Joseph, and one sister, Andrea.
The family would also like to thank Cerise Evans and the staff at the Mary Wade Home for their wonderful support and care.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. in Saint James Church, 2070 Main St, Stratford.
Interment will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford.
Friends may visit with her family Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford.
In Lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Special Olympics or to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
